Bluebird Research Project

We recently received the following message from a student at William & Mary regarding a bluebird research project:

As a doctoral student at the College of William and Mary, I have been studying bluebird vocalizations across a variety of habitats. I would also like to have some basic information about their spring singing habits; in particular, I am interested in tracking the progress of their spring singing as breeding weather hits different parts of the state. Because I can't be everywhere at once, I am seeking data contributions from birders across Virginia. I welcome any information you have regarding bluebird singing: When was the first date you heard them this year (or did you hear them singing throughout the winter)? What time of day did you hear the songs? In what context did the song occur--male to male, male to female, male to predator, male by himself? You can e-mail all observation data (or any other comments) to crkigh@wm.edu. Thanks in advance for all your help!
